The rain has not given a sign of stopping for a bit of a second. Not even that glimmer of light amid the doubling stacks of cloud above, which seldom I would see. Yeah, like a tunnel, in which the sun would steal a little glimpse of what lies beneath the dark, wet and cottony cover that almost always denied her ( or is the sun a "he" ? ) of the beauty below.
When I see this seldom sight, I would wave my hand to "her" and shout: " see you err, hmmn... summer?? ".Yes,yes summer !... will I have summer with the sun?
Blue sky or gray, in my house- we have a sunny disposition ! yey! it starts of course with our walls,
see ?
...and although, I have repeatedly postponed my tiptoeing through my water soaked backyard to say "hi" to my blooms- I have my indoor mini "hi", see ?
I love these beauties. My 97 year old mother being in the tropics would enjoy her collection plastered on the tree trunks, just next to her porch. Phalaenopsis (orchid) are not "come-take-care-of-me" kind of plant. I only water it once every 20 days! I mark my calendar to remember. They are attention seeker when they bloom though, as they are very showy in that manner, like "hey, look at me have I pleased your eyes".
This plant loves indirect sun, so put atop a table in a bright spot anywhere in your house or window sill with blinds that stop the sun from directly hitting this keeper.
For me here in the northwest, where I do not get surprise appearance from the sun, its place has always been the window sill- except when I wanted to show off, then I would place this beauty where it can enjoy admiring smile from a beholder. Read here for its detailed care.
My spring has always been celebrated with my naked hands clasping the dirt with a favorite tool to assist my soil covered fingers. This spring however, has not allowed my eager heart to be out there in the open to romance with my ever waiting plants along side the sun on my skin.
Whenever the wind come, and blow the cloud to rearrange them in different position. I will be down here watching to see if "she", the sun, would come and gape down for a split second and once again I can wave before it's gone, this time, I will say," hey, I still remember you, just come whenever- I'll be waiting!" In the mean time, I will delightfully bury my fingers within my indoor pots.
