Vegetables Are Good For You

Reading a few magazines on my B&N Nook while waiting for my two daughters piano lesson, I tumble upon an article that advises mothers not to sweat it out when kids would not eat vegetables and fruits."Replacing food items with the same nutritive value to vegetables that are more attractive to their palates are equally beneficial to their growing bodies", one nutritionist advice.
Mister would insist,"eat what mother cooked, we are not raising finicky" has always been his stern warning every time he see dinner platters filled with green. Knowing that drama would surely follow after a few bites.
Our first born loves pastries. Who wouldn't- except our second girl. Give her anything topped with Nutella  and her day is heaven.Still with sugar
Our girls like to make their own breakfast. On Saturdays, they would get up early and serve Mister and I one of the few they mastered- fried eggs with pancakes, slathered with piping hot syrup.

I love it when the girls do that. Yes, I get spoiled sometimes. I spoil them, too. Not often. We also have our moments, specially when it comes to eating the right food. Mister and I believes in training, discipline, manners and value, as we were raised the same way. I wonder if sometimes they think I'm so meanie--- no, I know they know better that. I should have them watch 'Mars Needs Moms', a film produced by the people who made "The Polar Express". I love that movie.Watch video clip.

Have a happy weekend ! be endlessly delighted with your Sunday ! as I will be with mine.

Embarrassing Breakfast Surprise

Before I went to bed last night, I took a bag of Rhodes rolls  thinking it was cinnamon rolls. Hmnn, cinnamon rolls with hot coco.  Yum!!  But when I found out it was just plain rolls, I arranged it on the top of an oil covered pan.

With what was in my mind, I excitedly took a bag of beef to thaw.
This morning, I made my concoction to fill the bun. As I heard the commotion up in the girls bedroom, I thought it was best time to stick the nicely rounded buns that was filled with the sweet aroma of my creation. It baked fast.

I rushed the girls to the table. After a sounding AMEN of our thanksgiving, a piping hot bun landed on each plate. The two girls chorused, "What is this?... a bun with beef ? and hot coco? "  They both gasped!  My youngest said,  "Ehew, Mom, I'm so embarrassed  for you." - In my mind: duh, take it from a Filipino. Filipinos eat fish, meat and vegetables with rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

...and they ate it not because they are half Filipino but because mommy said so. And guess what? They both wanted it for snacks at school, and I delightfully wrapped one for each-a full rounded helping.

Good morning !!
